Hey there, Have you had a chance to check out our Dwell+ exclusives? These stories go deep—video home tours, start-to-finish renovations, project budgets—and we share the details that matter. Charles Eames said, “The details are not the details. They make the design.” If you happen to agree, you just might like these two stories. First is Bob Butler’s DIY home in Nashville. With no formal training, Bob built a midcentury-inspired home—complete with a sunken living room, open beams, and a carport—for $115 per square foot. I’m not handy, but this story makes me believe that I could be if I wanted. |

DWELL+Bob Butler drew lessons from the legendary Case Study House program to design his cost-effective residence in Nashville. |

Next up is this Los Angeles ADU by Bo Sundius and Hisako Ichiki, the husband-and-wife duo behind Bunch Design. With its vaulted ceilings and clerestory windows, the backyard dwelling feels surprisingly spacious. It’s pure magic. Unlike magicians, however, Bo and Hisako roll up their sleeves and let us peek behind the curtain: they reveal the project budget down to the last dollar. (It’s $248,658.) |

DWELL+Bunch Design imagines a colorful, dynamic backyard dwelling that looks and feels larger than its 850 square feet. |

We publish a new Dwell+ exclusive nearly every day, so chances are good you’ll stumble upon a story (or a detail!) that moves you. Be sure to leave a comment when you do. Be well, Erin Mahoney Marketing Manager |
