I’m not one for resolutions. In my opinion, those little oaths we so often pledge at the beginning of every new year simply set us up for failure. That said, I do appreciate a fresh start, an opportunity to test out new waters and uncharted (or long-abandoned) territory. For me, every January serves as just that, and this year my fresh start involves my wardrobe.
For the past two years, I’ve embraced the comfortable, the roomy, the familiar. I’ve lived in easy loungewear that takes me easily from the couch to my home office to a casual dinner with friends. Dressing up typically consists of a slouchy pair of jeans and a nice blouse or tailored blazer. But no more.
I’m officially naming 2022 the year of the mini dress. From slinky thigh-high slips to cropped knit frocks, I’m letting my legs see the light of day and embracing a more carefree, airy vibe. Luckily, I’m not the only one embracing the shorter things in life. Ahead, check out the brands making a case for the mini dress, and the outfits that will carry me through the rest of this winter season and beyond.
Now, this is surely something I can stick with for the long haul. Happy New Year, indeed.
